Fine Art Print and Professional Practice MA and PGDip

Fine Art Print and Professional Practice MA(PGDip) is a new course that the University of Brighton is offering in partnership with the londonprintstudio. Students of the course will be students of the University of Brighton and have all the support normally offered to the university's students, but will be based at the londonprintstudio. All candidates will be interviewed for the MA course. In those circumstances in which staff feel that a relevant degree of experience has not yet been reached candidates may be encouraged to undertake the PGDip from which a pathway to the MA course exists. The MA course operates as a 2 year part-time (1 year full -time ) option.

The londonprintstudio is internationally one of the most comprehensive resources for graphic arts and printmaking available to practising artists. The course will draw upon these professional links and offer students the opportunity to work with specialists across a broad range of digital and traditional media. Units on professional practice and group working will assist students to work collaboratively and gain transferable skills. The workshops at londonprintstudio are purpose built and cater for a wide range of access needs.

The course is practice based and supported by critical theory. It provides practical support to assist students who are new to certain media, although, the programme of study is essentially student led and research based with the overriding objective of developing the critical intelligence of each student within their chosen study area.

The programme is unitised with a flexible structure which enables students to follow a pathway suitable to their own needs. Students are required to work approximately two days a week during their period of study. Tutorial support, seminars, group reviews, inductions etc. occur at a fixed day each week. Students book into facilities during normal opening times to complete their study. LPS offers flexible access including evenings and Saturdays.
