general information about the studio and its activities Alberta Printmakers is a non-profit, artist-run organization, founded in 1989 in Calgary, Alberta to increase public awareness of printmaking as a fine arts medium, and to provide a resource for printmaking artists. Our membership consists of art-lovers from the general public and well-known established print-artists, instructors, graduates and students from Alberta College of Art and Design and the University of Calgary. The Society is run by a board currently consisting of fourteen members and several committees. The committees organize the educational and gallery programs... In August 2006, an exciting new location was found for our studio. Close to trendy Inglewood, it is easy to reach by public transport. In this location a long held dream of having a gallery jointly with a working studio became a reality. The studio is equipped for Relief, Etching, Silkscreen and Lithography. In fall, winter and spring we offer workshops and classes. Content ranges from introductory courses to specific techniques for more advanced printmakers. Each year, several exhibitions are held with work of our members. In our own gallery, we will increase the amount of exhibitions and have the option to call for submissions or to invite emerging and established print-artists from out -of town or -province. We have had international print-exchanges before, the most recent one with Printsaurus in Japan in 2003. We intend to organize these exchanges in the future as well.
